The NHL is the most competitive league for all hockey players in the world. There are 30 teams in the NHL and 3 of them excell above the rest this season. The top 3 teams in the NHL, in my opinion are ; the Washington Capitals, the San Jose Sharks, and the Boston Bruins.
The Washington Capitals are by far the most dominate team in the NHL this season. They are lead by their captain, and the best player in the league, Alexander Ovechkin. Washingtons top line of Ovechkin, Semin, and Backstrom has combined for 186 points so far this season. When you watch this team play you will understand why they are the best in the league. This team wants to win more than anybody else, they hustle and go hard everytime. They are in second place in the eastern conference with 79 points but i believe when the plaoffs come they will shine. And they will have a good chance of winning the cup this year.
San Jose is statistically wise the best team in the legue right now but i think they are second best. Lead by their captain Patrick Marleau and their points leader Joe Thornton. The San Jose Sharks have 85 points this season and have a record of 38-8-9. San Jose has the best control with the puck out of all the teams in the NHL. Their passing, finishing, and powerplay are among the top in the league. Devin Setoguchi is a rookie this year and he is having a phenominal season. So far he has 49 points with 24 goals and 25 assists. For your first year in the NHL getting 49 points this far in the season is huge. San Jose picked up one of the leagues elite defencemen this year. Dan Boyle is a big force on the blue line and a force on the power play with a shot from the point.
The Boston Bruins are leading the eastern conference with points this season. So far they are tied for first with points in the whole NHL. Tim Thomas is a commanding goaltender who leads the league with the least goals against average, 2.06, and save percentage of 0.966. Blake Wheeler leades the league in plus-minus with +33. Their leading point getter is Marc Savard with 21 goals and 49 assists. And their captain is the biggest player in the league. Zdeno Chara stands at 6'9 and has the hardest shot in the league, over 105 mph.
